William Ernest Matier of Camrose, formerly of Red Deer, Alberta passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the age of 76 years.
William was born in Ashcroft, B.C. on March 9, 1941. He retired from the oilfield and trained and raced thoroughbreds. He spent winters in Osoyoos, B.C. and the summers in Red Deer. William moved to Camrose to spend his remaining days with family and was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Leane (Richard) Green of Kelowna, B.C., Sherry (Art) Schenk of Forestburg, and Nicole (Mike) Matier of Innisfail; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Adams and Doreen Kuefler both of Camrose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by his father Ernest Matier; mother Eva Doan; brother Howie Doan; grandson Derek Schenk; and brothers-in-law Art Adams and Edwin Kuefler.
No formal public service will be held.
If family and friends so desire, memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
