Eleanor Louise Mercier of Edmonton passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
Eleanor was born and raised on a farm near Donatville, Alberta in July of 1921. She was one of six siblings born to parents George and Evelyn (Lancour) Burke. She met Victor, a young man hailing from the Westlock area and was married shortly after. They lived in the Edmonton, Jasper Place area and were blessed with seven children who are: Leona (Norbert) Yurkoski, Illa (Noeline) Mercier, Elaine (Neil) Armstrong, Victoria (Doug) Ruemper, David (Donna) Mercier, Debbie, and Kevin (Natalie) Mercier.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Victor in 1999 and their daughter Debra in 1972.
Eleanor leaves behind nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two sisters Lena Duplessis and Gwen Higgins.
Eleanor loved to paint, garden, fish, hunt, dance and travel. She also loved to play bridge with her husband, children and close friends. The most important thing in her life was her family. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or give sound advice when needed.Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Victor, daughter Deborah, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from Annunciation Roman Catholic Church (9420 163 Street, Edmonton) with Rev. Martin Pasala officiating. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alzheimer Society or the charity of one's choice.
