Myron "Leo" Bjornson of Camrose passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the age of 87 years. Myron "Leo" Bjornson was born in Camrose on March 16, 1930 to Ole and Gertrude Bjornson. He was the third in a family of eight. He is survived by his wife Wilma; his children Diane Ortwein, Laura (Kevin) Graff, Roger (Christine), and Ellen (Gary) Johnson; twelve grandchildren Ryan Eggertson, Mark (Maegan) Eggertson, Dylan Graff (fiancé Amanda), Lindsay (Chris) Lange, Sarah Graff (Brock), Jesse Graff (Layne), Brandon, Kyle, Colin, Shane Bjornson, Chantal Johnson, Travis Johnson (fiancé Jesica); two great-granddaughters Aislyn Eggertson and Lana Lange; brothers Irvin (Jean), Cliff, Dave, and Bev (Donna); sister Betty Gruntman; and sister-in-law Connie Bjornson. Leo was predeceased by his parents; brothers Bernie and Con; sister-in-law Marian Bjornson; brother-in-law Bert Gruntman; and son-in-law Lorne Ortwein. Leo attended Verdun School to Grade 8. The following years he helped neighboring farmers with seeding, harvesting and general chores, and occasion boarding with them. At 14 years old, he had his own thrashing team. For a couple of winters, he worked at a dairy farm in the Calgary area. When returning back to Duhamel, he started farming with his brother Cliff. On October 24, 1956 he married Wilma Braim. Leo and Wilma settled one mile across the field from where he grew up, where they remained until 2014. In July of that year, they moved to Camrose to further enjoy their retirement. Leo spent the last four and a half months residing at the Louise Jensen Centre, where he passed away peacefully with his family by his side. We will all miss his twinkling eyes that wouldn't let him lie, his life stories, his competitive nature, and big hugs. The family would like to thank all for being here today, their friends, neighbors for so many kind and caring gestures, calls, prayers, food, and visits. A Funeral Service was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Mary Annan officiating . Inurnment will take place in the Duhamel Cemetery at a later date. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Louise Jensen Care Centre, St. Mary's Hospital, or to the charity of one's choice.
