Obituary of Tyler Broz
Please share a memory of Tyler to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tyler Jordan Broz, beloved son, and friend to many passed away suddenly on November 25th, 2017 from complications of Type 1 diabetes. Tyler was born on December 6, 1998 in his hometown Calgary, Alberta at the Rockeyview Hospital, before moving to Camrose in 2005 to be closer to family. He was an old soul taken from us too soon. At a young age he enjoyed swimming, Timbit's soccer and Tae-Kwan-Do. He was introduced to skating and hockey at the age of 8 and it quickly became his passion where he spent many hours at goalie camps, arenas, and hanging with his buddies in the locker room. His love of hockey also led him to his first job as a hockey referee, and he loved being with the younger players. Ty was an only child who made friends easily and enjoyed having buddies over every weekend and sleeping over at friends' houses, playing smockey hockey and staying up late playing video games. In August 2017 he moved with his best friend Paige Haugen and her family, to Kamloops, British Columbia and attended Valleyview Secondary School. He was set to graduate in January 2018, finally achieving his goal of graduating high school. After graduation he planned to travel for a bit (as that was his deepest passion) before pursuing University, and was interested in Architectural Design or becoming a lawyer. Ty had the good fortune to travel to many places in his short life: Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Bahamas, Costa Rica, and Thailand. His most cherished travel experience was to the Philippines where he met family, made new friends and was fully immersed in the culture. Tyler will be fondly remembered, loved and deeply missed by his parents Bruce and Stephanie Broz, his Gammie Holly Guest, Grandpa Dennis Rusinak, Grandparents Sharon and Ray Altstadt (Sedgewick), Grandma Lynda Broz, his Uncle and Aunt Wally and Ana Broz (Hardisty), his cousins Jared (Paige), Brandon (Brandy), Nicholas, Jessica, Chad (Kira) and Oliver. He is now resting peacefully with his Grandpa Keith and his Aunt Lila.
Ty will be remembered for his beautiful smile that could light up a room, his sense of humor, and his struggle with diabetes. He had a soft spot for cats and little kids, especially his newest cousin Oliver. He enjoyed playing video games, listening to music, and eating midnight dinners of steak and fish sticks. In Ty's memory, donations are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2017 from the CityLights Church with Rev. Clayton Milgate officiating.
