Please share a memory of Dale to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dale Stephenson of Camrose, passed away on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the age of 69 years. Dale Robert Stephenson was born May 26th, 1948 in Fort Macleod and was the only child to Harold and Kathleen Stephenson. He lived on a farm near Granum, where he also attended school until 1966. He moved to Edmonton and married his wife Stephania in November of 1968, and in the Spring of 1969 they welcomed their daughter Angela. With a new family Dale began, what would be a life long career with Stelco Pipe in the metallurgy department. The couple bought a home in Leduc, and settled in. They welcomed their son Mike in the spring of 1973. He was offered a position at the Camrose Mill in 1975 and didn't hesitate to accept the offer. He commuted from Leduc for about six months, and then moved the family into a brand new home in January of 1976. Never satisfied with just the norm, Dale strived to increase his knowledge and challenge himself. With his lasting passion for cars and his confident social nature, Dale ventured into Car Sales with a couple of buddies, and together they opened a used vehicle dealership, while working forty plus hours a week at the pipe mill. He also ventured into the taxi service in the late eighties/early nineties, owning Red & White Cabs and Greyline Taxi. By the mid-nineties he took a step back to a more regular life and work week. He regularly went to the Norsemen after work, and even took up golf. Home life was spent spoiling the cats and lounging in his lazy boy recliner. He remained working at the mill as the Lab Supervisor and then Project Coordinator until his retirement in 2009, where he once again went back into used car sales. He spent his days rebuilding and selling vehicles until his rapidly declining health forced him to stop. Gravely ill, he spent the last few months in St. Mary's and Louise Jensen Care Facility. On Saturday, December 9th, 2017, Dale peacefully passed away while surrounded by his loved ones. Left to cherish his memory are his son Mike Stephenson of Edmonton, and his daughter, Angela (Jason) Blacker of Calgary. Dale will be sorely missed by so many wonderful and dear family, friends, and coworkers. A funeral service was held on Saturday December 16, 2017 at 11:00am from the Burgar Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to Louise Jensen Center (Hawthorne Cottage), or to Camrose and District Animal Shelter.
