Obituary of Stanley Gabruck

Stanley Gabruck formerly of Daysland, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Killam Long Term Care Facility at the age of 93 years on December 26, 2017. Stan was born in Daysland July 31,1924. He was one of eight children. He attended Quarrel School. Stan married Anna Rogoski on November 22,1948 and they raised six children. They farmed north of Daysland until 1989 when they moved into Daysland. Stan moved to the Killam Long Term Care Unit in November 2013 and lived there until his passing. Stan enjoyed watching baseball, hockey, playing horseshoes and pool. He was an avid reader of western paperback novels. He is survived by five sons and one daughter-in-law Donald (Diane), William (Betty), Kenneth (Alex Ann), Liz (Robert), Terrance, and Richard (Cecilia); two brothers Victor (Phyllis) and George (Jean); and one sister Olga Mosier (Robert); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Mary; wife Anna; one son Robert; two brothers Peter and John; and two sisters Helen and Ann. Family members wish to express their sincere thanks to the Doctors and staff at the Killam Long Term Care Unit for their loving care during Dad's stay. We would also like to thank everyone for their care and support. A Prayer Vigil was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from Our Ladies of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland, Alberta. A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 from Our Ladies of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland, Alberta with Rev. Carlos Nunez as celebrant. Interment followed at the Daysland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Daysland Cemetery Fund, or to the Daysland Hospital Foundation.
