Alice Muriel McLaren of Camrose, formerly of Coalhurst, Alberta passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Alice was born in Coalhurst, Alberta. As a young girl, she lived with her family there, later moving to Lethbridge and then back to Coalhurst after marrying Tom McLaren in October 1952. While in Coalhurst, she worked at the Dominion grocery store, then the Auto-Matic Electric in Lethbridge and raised their two children Debbie and Larry. In 1977 they moved to Camrose, owned and operated the Camrose and Slave Lake Cable Systems. Alice attended the Calvary Pentecostal Church now known as the CityLights Church. She was very passionate about her involvement in the church. Alice liked to garden and enjoyed her flowering plants. She accompanied Tom to many grandchildren's birthdays, 4-H events and to the Kootneys on fishing trips. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her kind heart and generous nature will be remembered by many.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Thomas; brother Harry Wesselman; and her parents Charles and Lillian Wesselman. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Debbie (Larry) Manley; her son Larry (Terry) McLaren; grandchildren Stephanie (Sheldon) Kropiniski, Heather (Dan) Adams, Lindsey (Arron) Koster, Natalie (Colin) Severson, Rikki (Shaun) Mulloy, Travis (Rhea) Csernyanszki; great-grandchildren Carson and Reece Kropiniski, River and Rome Koster, Jakob and Abby Mulloy, Roxanne and Vanessa Severson, and Mason, Daxton and Zoe Csernyanszki; brother Charles (Anne) Wesselman; and sisters Ruth (Don) Henry and Dorothy Vanbuuren.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from the CityLights Church with Rev. Clayton Milgate officiating. Interment took place in Archmount Cemetery in Lethbridge, Alberta at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Martha's Table in Camrose.
