I am very sorry to hear about your loss! I had Eric as my English teacher when I went to Memorial a couple of years ago and he was a phenomenal man with a heart of gold. Always had a passion for teaching, getting to know the students and making class interesting every day! Sadly gone but never forgotten.

I was a student of Eric's at Seba Beach from 1995 - 1997. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends. He made every subject fun and interesting to learn. I'll never forget one winter day when the sun came out. Eric ran out the back door of the classroom into the snow and yelled to all of us "come on, what are you waiting for!" we all ran outside, looking a little dazed. He said "it's the dance of the snow land nymphs!" So here we were, a bunch of Grade 12 students dancing around in the snow. That is one of my favorite memories. My brother was also taught by Eric. Tonight, in California and it's raining. As I'm visiting my brother at his home in California. As a tribute to Eric, we ran outside and did the dance of the rainland nymphs, since there is no snow...Eric, may you always continue to dance..... Amanda Stuhl

We were very sorry to hear of Eric's passing. He always took the time to stop and say "hi" while living in the neighbourhood. He had such a great laugh and a huge smile that lit up his face. We will always remember him taking the time to listen to our youngest sons outlandish stories. Our thoughts are with all of his family at this time.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this...sending our thoughts and prayers to all of Erics loving family. We shared car pooling and cheered our girls on the soccer field for many years. Eric loved coaching Spruce Grove Saints soccer when his daughters played. And when he wasn't on the bench he was in the stands cheering them on. Eric will always be remembered for the kind, smiling, friendly guy that he was. His life was taken much to earlier. R.I.P. Lorie, Ken, Lorie, Josh LaPlante

Dear Family of Eric J. We are thinking of you at this time and pray that you feel the presence of God to comfort you. May you one day soon, have fond memories that outweigh the heaviness you feel in your heart right now. Eric taught my son English and gave him a strong background for expressing himself in the written word and organizing his thoughts. This is something he can take with him to his future. We are thankful for that. Wishing you God's Peace.

I went to school in Camrose with Eric and found him to be a very funloving and gregarious person. Very likable and personable. It saddens me that he is gone at such a young age, reminding me of my own mortality. It was really a shock to get this news, and his family very much has my sympathy and prayers.

Our whole family is very shocked and saddened about losing Eric. I thought he was the best soccer coach a kid could have, as he knew how to motivate and bring out the best, while still allowing them to be kids and have fun. He was always so easy to have around, and we will miss him alot. David and Donna Sokolan and Family David Sokolan
