Obituary of Dr. Donald Baker

Dr. Donald Baker of Caldwell, Idaho, formerly of Camrose, passed away on November 9, 2011 at the age of 86 years.
Left to cherish his memory are Barbara Baker of Camrose; his children, Linda Aycock of Calgary, Jim (Sally) Baker of Ithaca, New York, Doug Baker of Ohaton, Joan Cote of Kelowna, Nancy (Stuart) Money of Calgary and Janet Baker of Seattle; as well as his daughter-in-law Mary Baker of Cedarville, Michigan; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his wife Jo of Caldwell and his brother Stewart (Dorothy) Baker of Edmonton.
Donald was predeceased by his son Bob.
He practiced medicine in Camrose for about 25 years as well as farming in the Kelsey area for many years. He was active in the Kinsmen Club and coached the high school football team. He was also an avid badminton player and loved going to the cabin at Pigeon Lake with his family.
Donald moved from Camrose to Texas in 1977. In 1984, he moved to Sault St. Marie, Michigan where he had a private practice. During this time he also began working for the State of Michigan as a medical director in the prison system. He retired from the State after 12 years of service, moving to Caldwell, Idaho in March 1996. He only gave up his medical license last year.
He played the cornet in the Edmonton School Boys band, the Caldwell centennial band, the Boise community band, marching band, and the Boise State band.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Mary Ann Pastuck officiating.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Cancer Society of Alberta, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or ALS.
