Obituary of George Rood

George Rood was born February 8, 1941 to Bert and Beatrice Rood in Edmonton. George peacefully passed away in the Daysland Hospital on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the age of 69.
George lived at Daysland all of his life. He and Lloyd attended Chirbury School then Daysland and Bawlf. Farming was his way of life so in 1967 he purchased the John Heck farm north of Daysland.
On July 21, 1967 George married Anna Fleck and to this union two children were born, Daniel John and Wendy Marie. Along with the farming responsibilities for 41 years he was the rural mail carrier. George's interests included, having coffee with his buddies, cattle auction markets, country music oprys, reunions and time spent with family & friends. George was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #80 and also a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star.
George was predeceased by his parents Bert and Beatrice Rood.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Anna, his son Danny, his daughter Wendy (Trevor), brother Lloyd (Patience), and four sister-in-laws, Alice Smith (Pat), Joyce Bussard, Coral Fleck, Doreen Fleck, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
George's sense of humour and stories will be sadly missed by all that knew him. Your comfort, support and acts of kindness are appreciated and gratefully accepted at this time.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 2:00pm., from Our Lady Of The Prairies Roman Catholic Church with Rev Kathleen Taylor officiating. Interment followed in The Daysland Cemetery.
