Obituary of Stanley Christensen
Stanley Owen Christensen of Camrose, Alberta passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the age of 53 years.
Stanley was born 27 May 1964 in Athabasca, the fourth son, fifth child of Otto and Anna. He grew up on a small farm and later the hamlet of Colinton. He and Bruce spent many hours playing together when they were growing up. Small farm life taught him that it was important to work hard and to do your best. He always applied these lessons.
Some of his jobs included: Bee Farmer; Carpenter’s helper; Truck Driver; Pipeline crew; and drilling rigs. Then into road construction, working the better part of 18 years, many with Bruce on the same jobs, as well. He drove wiggle wagons and Caterpillars. From the lowly D4 to the mighty D11, which was his favorite.
He liked Rock and Roll and Country Rock music and he sang and played guitar from an early age. As a young teenager, he joined his mom, Jane, Bruce and a couple of their friends, singing at the Seniors Home in Athabasca.
Although the youngest, he was the tallest and was like a big brother to many younger friends. He was always a great friend to all who knew and loved him. This is how he will be remembered. His faith was always strong and when cancer came, he faced it bravely and stoically.
He is survived by his son Jarvis; his mom Anna; siblings Mark, James, Jane and Bruce; his nieces Megann and Kymberly; and nephews David, Eric, and Daniel. He was predeceased by his father Otto.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018, from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Laird Borst officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
