Dera Powell family I have been on vacaton and got home to hear the passing of your Mom/Grandma/friend I would like to express my sincere sympathy to you all. I was one of her nurses at St. Marys,I feel privelegded for having to get to help out such a fine lady, I also was what your Dad called his favorite nurse. They were both outstanding people, you must be so very pround to be the "Powell Family" Hope your are able to celebrate the life of the wonderful lady your Mom was and how she inspired so many people with her intelligence and kindness. Hold all those wonderful memories you must have. I can only imagine the fun you must of had growing up. Do take good care of each other and my God bless you all. My deepest sympathy Patricia Hogg

Doris truely was an unselfish, giving, nurturing person. She shared so much unbiased love and kindness. I feel very blessed to have had Doris in my life, and fortunate to share with her so many loving stories of her family and friends, as well as the great 'life' lessons she could tell. I'm sure she is sharing a drink with Duncan with Gabe sitting on her lap!

My Great Auntie Doris, I am shocked by the sudden loss of you. You have always been such an inspirational woman to me, and really you were the last of the Great Matriarch's who influenced the formative years of my life in a profound way. I will always treasure the fond memories of our days together on the farm, bringing the barn cats warm milk and tending to the other animals. I love the way you could speak your mind and your truth in a strong but also gentle and compassionate way. And I am forever grateful for your love and kindness in caring for my Grandma (Myrtle) all the years that you did. You were also a rock, a home, and a role model for my dad. He is really going to miss you too. Thank you Dale and Cheryl for having us all out for Christmas in 2010. Doris was such a great and generous lady. She was always a willing volunteer to help and had a very positive attitude. She belonged to other organizations but I know her best with the work she did at the Constitutency Conferences and the Provincial Conventions that she attended with Alberta Women's Institutes (A.W.I.). She will be missed by all of her W.I. friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time. May time heal everyone.
