I met Olga in the late 70's when I started my career as a Dietitian in St.John's. Olga continued to attend the dietitians meetings and socials after her retirement. She was a wonderful mentor to the young dietitians. I remember well her talk about her work experiences and travels across the province in her early years as the province's nutritionist. In recent years I joined CFUW and learnt that Olga had been a long term member remembered fondly for her contributions both to the St.John's chapter and her community. Olga touched many people in Newfoundland and Labrador. My sincere sympathy goes to her family and close friends.

I first met Ms Anderson in 1963 as a nursing student when she did classes on nutrition at the Grace General School of Nursing. My classmates and I still repeat some of the things she taught us. Later she and I were both members of Gower St United Church. However I think of her most often when I make Mincemeat pies. She was growing tomatoes at a communal garden and mentioned that she made Mincemeat pies from her green tomatoes. That started a tradition of Mincemeat pies which were enjoyed by many friends,my children's teachers as christmas gifts and my family. Sincere sympathy to Olga's family. Lima Spurrell

To the family of the late Olga H. Anderson. I first met Miss Anderson when I became her secretary when ahe came to St. John!s, Newfoundland in 1950, as Nutritional Advisor to the Dept. of Health. She was very kind to a young girl, just on her first job. I learned a lot from her as she was very thorough and organized, She also attended my wedding in 1953. She was very respected among her colleagues. Thanking God for her very dedicated and long life. Sincerely Leonie (Wall) Williams. leoniewilliams29@gmail.com Mrs Leonie Williams P.O. To: Olga's Family I had the pleasure of working with Olga for many years here in NL & always admired her great committment to this province & the health of its people. I succeeded Olga as Director of Nutrition in 1980 & appreciated the excellent foundation she had laid. She was a true pioneer in her field & there was much to be learned from her. Olga was always glad to see the younger dietitians as we were glad to see her.She came to meetings & gatherings long after she retired as her interest never waned. I am glad that she had such a good long life & I hope that her last years were special as she was.The dietitians here will remember her fondly. Eleanor

To Esther and family, our condolences on Olga’s passing. In her adopted province of Newfoundland and Labrador, she will be long remembered for the richness of her life. Her contribution in public education in nutrition throughout the province was considerable; at times she traveled in rugged conditions around the coastline to the outports. She was strongly committed to promoting post secondary education; in recognition of her dedication, the Canadian Federation of University Women of St. John’s gives an annual bursary in her name to a student at Memorial University. Her spiritual home was Gower Street United Church where she frequently directed her faith into very practical consequences. For example, for seniors of the community and of the congregation, she established a programme of recreational activities, meals and bus tours. The programme continues with help from the congregation at large. Personally, we were pleased and grateful to have had many personal and family contacts with her; Elva’s mother too always looked forward to her visits. God’s blessing be with you.

My condolences to Olga's family. She was a wonderful lady whom I met when I joined CFUW St. John's many years ago. She was a Life Member of CFUW St. John's, and one of the Annual Bursaries given to a student at Memorial University is named in her honour. I had the pleasure of visiting her in Camrose after I attended the CFUW AGM in Edmonton a few years ago. She was frail then, but a very gracious hostess, and pleased to have a visitor from St. John's. I will always remember her fondly. Grace Stapleton Past VP Atlantic, CFUW.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Death is our great enemy. However, we can find hope and comfort in the words found in Revelation 21:4 when "death will be no more, nor mourning, nor pain be anymore..."
