Twyla and Jerry, I don't know what to say. It's hard to think that something like this could happen to family and friends. My thoughts have been with you through this. I am sick in bed at the moment. If I am unable to make it to Camrose tomorrow I will be thinking of you and the great memories I have of Everett. He was always so happy and positive. His open kindness has made a lasting impact on me, and others I am sure. Take care. Love Philip.

Henk, my maiden name is Mastenbroek...I remember you well. I live in Calgary now. When i heard the news over the tv, the name stung and wondered if it was a relative of yours. As Lauren's family, we were thrilled when she brought EJ to Lloyd to introduce him to us as her boyfriend. We all loved him immediately. He made me laugh the first time he came over to our house - I opened the door and before I could say anything EJ announced "Your retaining wall is falling over, I can fix that". We were honoured when he phoned me himself last Christmas and said that he Lauren wanted to come to Lloyd for Christmas and would it be ok if they stayed at our house. We had a joyous holiday, one that will live in our memories forever. To EJ's parents and siblings, you raised an unbelievably polite, funny loveable boy who left an indelible mark on many.

I can't believe that you were taken so soon. For some reason the thing that comes to mind when I think of you is when you dyed your hair with Kool-Aid. I'm not even sure how old we were, I just remember thinking you were so cool. You being taken away is nothing short of a tragedy. My love and sympathies go out to your family and friends.

First off I'd like to extend my deepest sympathies to the family. I had the privilege of teaching EJ in survival out in cold lake. He was always happy and willing to lend a hand. Heaven has gained an amazing man! Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the funeral but I will be there in spirit, and pray for him every night.

I met Everett (EJ) in the summer of 2009, while we were on staff in Cold Lake, Alberta. I was lucky enough to work alongside him for the majority of the summer, a few days off here and there. He kept me out of trouble quite of few times, and always knew how to make me smile. I am honoured and blessed to have known him, and I know I will see him again one day. All my love. Survival, forever <3

Everett was one of, if not the most amazing person I've met. He had a knack for making anyone feel better or cracking a smile. The six weeks I spent in Cold Lake with him will always be my most treasured memories. My only wish is we'd talked more after graduation. My condolences to his family and friends. Everett, we're all going to miss you bud...Huey 2K7 always.

I am sorry for your loss. I am a part of the Survival Family from Cold Lake. I was on course with EJ in 2007, as well as staffed with him in 2009. EJ was always making everyone smile. The things he did to make people smile will always be with me. We had many a good laugh with him in 2009 on staff
