Dear Marg and family, I was sorry to hear about Doug's death.We saw you at such a happy time at your birthday party,and now you are coping with a loss. It is always hard to lose a family member to death-it is so final ,and death leaves a hole.I lost my mother last year,and I am full of sympathy.

Doug was the best man at my wedding and a dear friend during our high school and early university days. As with friends and family, I share a deep sense of sadness at his passing and thoughts of what he had to endure during his life. I'm glad he's pictured here sitting on the drums! Drumming was one of the passions we shared - along with those long and philosophic conversations that engaged and entertained us as young men with a large curiosity. His brightness and insights were always a beacon for me. My sympathy to the family and all who knew him. Barry McKinnon
