I never met Mr. Melvie but knew him through his wonderful daughter, Ann Marie. She and I were university room mates in 1979-80 and I remember how fondly she would share stories of his wisdom and humour. I can honestly say that through her gift of friendship, Ann Marie gave me one of the best years of my life, full of laughter, joy, and love. I'm sure her Dad shaped her character in the same way and I would have liked to have had the chance to thank him for that. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. "We are not humans on a spiritual journey, we are spirits on a human journey", and John has shed off his earthly shell to fly as we are all meant to our most beautiful home.
