Zenia Robinson passed away at the age of 81 years on February 3, 2013 at her home in Daysland. She leaves to appreciate and celebrate her life, her seven children Sandra, Donald, Gerry, Ronald, Byron, Lester and Murray; as well as six daughters-in-law; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Andrew Doncez and one brother from her family of origin as well as her husband Herb Robinson; one son-in-law David De Jong; and one daughter-in-law Sheila Robinson. Zenia Robinson was born on June 8th 1931 in Fort Vermillion, Alberta, the fifth child of nine children. She grew up on the family farm near Fort Vermillion, Alberta. She attended the Pomton Country Schoolhouse in Rocky Lane district with her siblings and cousins whose families emigrated from the Ukraine together, and were neighbors. The Bashaw Hotel was her first employer where she worked as a waitress and met her future husband Herb Robinson. They were married on December 1st, 1952, and they moved in 1956 to Daysland when they purchased the Daysland "M&M Groceries". Zenia worked alongside Herb in the grocery store and raised seven children. She was a member of the Oldtimers Association and the Order of the Royal Purple Service Club, and joined her friend Sis Larson in working the confectionary for the Auction Market, and providing the pies, for many years. She was a member of the United Church and served as their Janitor for 30 years. She was available to many homes and businesses as a janitor including the Post Office, Town Office, the Dentist Office, the Community Hall, and the Drop In Center. She retired from these positions one by one and was free from her toils at the age of 79. Zenia lived for family and communicated with her sisters and brothers regularly by telephone. Visits from her children were what she looked forward to the most and enjoyed time with her closest friends that shared her love of Bingo. She leaves much for us to remember. A Funeral Service was held 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2013 from the Camrose Community Church (5204 53 Ave) with Rev. Ralph Kassen officiating. Interment has taken place in the Daysland Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
