Obituary of Donald Bieber

Donald Keith Bieber of Edmonton formerly of Camrose, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 at the age of 64 years. Donald was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose on November 28, 1948 to John and Adeline Bieber. He attended primary and secondary school in Camrose and graduated from Camrose Composite High School. As a youth he was a baptized and confirmed member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his time as a Cub Scout in the Messiah Church troop. After graduation from high school he worked at various handyman jobs, because he was very mechanically inclined. He studied welding and plumbing through apprenticeships and he had jobs throughout Alberta. He briefly worked with a firm that did some work in the Southern United States. Don worked primarily in Edmonton for many years, among other places at Westfair Foods. Don had excelled in hockey and baseball as a youth, earning much recognition for his talents. Even when he no longer participated, he still maintained an active interest in watching sports on TV, especially hockey, football and baseball. People will remember him as someone who came alive in a social setting and was warm and generous to his friends and family. He was predeceased by his mother and father Adeline and John Bieber. He leaves behind to mourn his brother Douglas and his family (Mona Bieber, Danielle (Bieber) McDaid and Liam McDaid, and Caroline Bieber); his sister Gayle Achkewich; his nephew Jesse Achkewich; and his sister Lorie Skiba and her husband Vern Skiba. A Funeral Service was held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 15, 2013 from Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Eriksson officiating. Interment has taken place in the New Norway Cemetery.
