Obituary of Nellie Johanson

Nellie was born in Ferintosh, Alberta on December 22, 1926, the first child of two, to Victor and Elsie Lindgren. She married Herbert Johanson on August 7, 1948. Nellie is survived by her brother Ken (Vi) Lindgren of Edmonton and sisters-in-law Dorothy (Cliff) Hoyme of Camrose and Adele Johanson of Calgary. She is also survived by her four children Douglas (Linda) Johanson of Calgary, Brian (Dorothy) Johanson of Red Deer, Diane (Peter) Markiw of Edmonton and Karen (Barry) Alackson of Edmonton; ten grandchildren: Sarah (Brian) Boys, Benjamin (Chane) Johanson, Jonathan (Rebekah) Johanson, Daniel (Kristin) Johanson, Jennifer (Mark) Jacobsen, Wendy (Don) Chambers, Trevor (Sonja) Johnanson, Alison (Kent) Roberts, Erin (John) Knoll, David Alackson; fifteen great-grandchildren Ashwyn and Viggo Boys; Emelia and Esmee Johanson; Jared, Elsie, and Ryan Jacobsen; Gavin, Talia, and Shanelle Chambers; Hudson, Aili, Ike Johnason; and numerous nephews and nieces. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Herbert Johanson and her parents Victor and Elsie Lindgren; her sisters-in-law Dorothy (Cliff) Gillespie and Lily Johanson; brother-in-law Clarence Johanson. Nellie was born and raised in the Ferintosh area where she met Herbert and married. She was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, sewing, and had a love of music: listening, playing piano and organ and teaching piano. Her love of God, family and friends was apparent in her everyday life and will always be remembered. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Century Meadows Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Lehman officiating. Interment has taken place the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the charity of one's choice.
