Edward Szott of Camrose, formerly of Daysland passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 87 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Christine; his children Yvonne (Garry) Pointkoski of Camrose, Sheila (James) Peter of Camrose, Rita (Patrick) Keogh of Penticton, B.C., Lloyd (Geraldine) Szott of Wabasca, Audrey (Brent) Hrdlicka of Daysland, Leanne (Paul) Kofoed of Camrose, Donna (Harvey) Hunchak of Penticton; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Edward is also survived by his brothers Peter Szott of Daysland, Martin (Gerri) Szott of Camrose, and August (Barbara) Szott of Camrose; his sisters Angie Roberge of Kamloops, Josephine Scherrens of Camrose, Annette (Everett) Fitzpatrick of Calgary, Francis Tandberg of Nelson, B.C., Alice (Morris) Bliid of Calgary, and Olga (Ron) MacMillan of Calgary.
Edward was predeceased by his brothers Mike, Frank, Joe and Rudy; sisters Victoria and Helen.
A prayer vigil was held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. from the Burgar Memorial Chapel.
Edward was born on a farm north of Daysland on September 26, 1925. He spent the majority of his life as a farmer and loved taking long walks through the bush listening to all the sounds of nature. Edward took great pride in caring for his livestock and chickens.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church Daysland with Rev. Leon Kler as celebrant. Interment has taken place in the Daysland Cemetery.
