Steve has been my hero since he came to Manning when I was about 8 years old. He played ball and curled with my brothers and married the prettiest girl in Manning. I can still remember him being a great third baseman and curler. When I moved to Camrose in 1974 , on my first trip to town I ran into Steve in Safeway and he looked just like he did in 1952. Since that time I have gotten to know his boys and come to appreciate them as friends. Frankie and Steve have raised a wonderful family. I thought it was neat how Steve would come and watched his boys curl whenever they were curling my team. I always enjoyed visiting with Frankie and Steve down in Yuma and will miss visiting with a great guy. Lanis and I want to extend our deepest sympathies to the Sawchuk family. Steve will be missed by all that knew him.
