Obituary of Erwin Lachman
Erwin Lachman of Leduc, formerly of Hay Lakes, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the age of 86 years.
Erwin was born on September 3, 1931, on the farm at Hay Lakes to Emil and Adele Lachman. He was confirmed at St. Stephen’s Church by Pastor Koss. He enjoyed the fellowship of his friends in Luther League and the Hay Lakes Gang. From age six, he wanted to farm.
He married Alice Hirsekorn on August 5, 1955. They worked together as a team in mixed farming, then dairy, later beef and grain, then finally renting the land out. Erwin was a good steward of God’s land. It was his dream to have a nice family farm. He also really enjoyed the winter holidays in Mesa, Arizona.
He was proud of his daughters Sandra and Valerie, and always interested in their lives. He enjoyed spending much time with his granddaughters Angelique and Taryn. Erwin and Alice moved to Beaumont in 2005. He enjoyed his retirement to the end.
He leaves to mourn Alice, his wife of 62 years; daughters Sandra Graves and Valerie Mallas; granddaughters Angelique and Taryn; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Erwin was predeceased by his parents; brother Lawrence; sisters Elsie and Lorraine; and brother-in-law Leonard.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hay Lakes with Rev. Dennis Aicken officiating. Interment has taken place in the Hay Lakes Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Salvation Army, or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Rolly View) Building Fund, or to the charity of one’s choice.
