Obituary of Fredrick Edward Dyck
Fredrick Edward Dyck
(March 28, 1939 - July 26, 2018)
Fredrick Edward Dyck of Camrose, formerly of Abbotsford, BC, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the age of 79 years.
Fred was a great and loving husband and father. He cherished his two daughters and grandchildren and was very proud of what they had accomplished in life. Fred and Gill moved off a quaint 10 acre farm in Abbotsford and bought 160 acres in the Camrose area. He was a proud man and a perfectionist, sometimes taking days and weeks to get something done just right. Fred built all the buildings on this farm, raising the final trusses of his dairy barn with the help of many helpful neighbors. Fred and Gill were successful dairy farmers for 15 years.
Fred loved working with wood and made some lovely furniture like bedroom suites, end tables and beds for his two grandchildren whom he adored. Fred loved all animals, especially birds. He raised white pigeons! The pigeons got a pen made in the barn before the kids got a sand pit! Fred also made three beautiful martin houses and looked forward to them returning to nest each Spring.
Fred and Gill didn’t wait to retire before they went on many holidays all over the world. In the last five years, they took many trips with their daughters and grandchildren to warm destinations and enjoyed lovely dinners, exciting excursions and lazy days by the sea. This last December, they spent Christmas together in Costa Rica.
It is going to very hard to be without him but we must be brave as this is what he would have wanted.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gillian; children Lorna (Dave) Stevenson of Calgary, and Linda Dyck of Edmonton; grandchildren Brad and Kendra; and siblings Susan (Robert) Woelk of Vimy, Alberta, Rita Vale of Sedro Woolley, Washington, Ernie (Christine) Dyck of Abbotsford, BC, Pat (Ben) Falk of Abbotsford, BC, Bob (Dorothy) Dyck of Abbotsford, BC, and Debbie (Bruce) Eros of Kelowna, BC. Fred was predeceased by his parents Henry and Susie; brother Bill Dyck, and nephew Kenny Woelk.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating.
