Obituary of Tressa Lavern Little
Tressa Lavern Little
(October 19, 1921 - August 20, 2018)
Tressa Lavern Little passed away peacefully on August 20, 2018 at Extendicare Viking, Alberta with her family at her side at the age of 96 years.
Lavern was born on October 19, 1921 in Rye, Colorado, the eldest child of Harry and Hazel Wassenaar. As a very young child, she moved with her family to Canada, first to B.C. and then to Lethbridge, Alberta, and then on a farm North of Bawlf. It was while living in Lethbridge that Lavern heard the gospel and made her choice to follow Jesus at the age of 16, a path she loved and cherished for 80 years. After her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper in Camrose. In 1942, she married Robert Little and settled east of Daysland, where she and her husband farmed for many years. After Robert’s death in 1988 she continued to live independently in her home on the farm until July of 2017, when due to failing health she moved to the Extendicare in Viking at the age of 95 years. Lavern made friends wherever she went, and her keen wit and love of life endeared her to everyone she met.
She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her son Harry and his wife Marjorie; two grandsons Andrew (Lorie) and Byron Little; three great-grandchildren Chandra, Talia, and Reagan Little; two sisters Hazel Little and Donna (Peter) Rezansoff; one sister-in-law Margaret Wassenaar; four nieces Gloria (Lloyd) Antypowich, Judy (Allan) McGladdery, Bonnie Halbert, and Linda Sargeant; two nephews Ken Little and Richard (Maxine) Little; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. She will also be dearly missed by her faithful friend, Peggy Young.
Besides her husband and parents, Lavern was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Betty Little, brother Jack Wassenaar, sister and brother-in-law Louise and Howard Little, and two brothers-in-law Charlie and Johnny Little and his wife Ada.
The family would like to thank Lavern’s many friends and family members for their love and friendship toward her. A special thanks to the staff at Extendicare for their loving care and kindness this past year.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from the Daysland Community Hall with Dennis Morris officiating. Interment will take place in the Daysland Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Daysland Cemetery Fund.
