Clara Malinda Nelson

Clara Nelson passed away peacefully August 28, 2018 at the age of 95 years.
Clara was born in Camrose, Alberta, on May 4, 1923, to Albert and Malinda Roth. After graduating in 1941, she worked as the bookkeeper for J. Lawrence & Co. in Camrose. On January 30, 1944, she married Mirrel Nelson. Mirrel and Clara raised their boys on the family farm at Kelsey where they enjoyed the majority of their lives. After retiring from the farm, Clara and Mirrel spent three years in Tanzania, Africa where Mirrel managed a farm for a Canadian Wheat Project by CIDA. Clara spent many hours teaching the Tanzanian women to sew and knit. Music brought her much joy. She often played the piano and sang at church functions.
She is survived by her four sons Douglas (Isabella) of Canmore, Rodney (Wendy) of Kelsey, Greg (Shirley) of Lloydminster, and Dave (Karen) of Camrose; seven grandchildren, Krista, Pamela, Steven, Philip, Angela, Mark and Ara-Lynn; and twelve great-grandchildren, Emma, James, Duncan, Alyssa, Hayden, Ella, Mylynn, Mason, Dane, Westin, Samuel and Lena; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memory is her brother Vernon Roth of Camrose; sisters-in-law Evelyn Hundevad of Victoria and Yvonne Nelson of Camrose.
She was predeceased by her husband Mirrel, brother Malvin Roth and sister Bobby Hare.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM September 10, 2018, from the Rose City Baptist Church, 6406 44b Ave Camrose with Rev. Dave Cawley officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery.
