Dear Family of Bugsy...my deepest condolences to you all. Chuck was one of my best friends back in the day in Highland Creek at HCPS. We lost contact in high school but reconnected on FB a year or two ago. I deeply regret not meeting up with Chuck when he recently visited the East. My sympathies and may God be with you.
RIP my long lost friend.

Kelly, Grady and Family. We are so sorry for your sudden loss. Family Matters. I will miss my dear cousin "Chick". I have so many wonderful memories as children in Hillsburg sneaking hot dogs from the butcher shop across the street where our grand-parents, Ervin and Irene Whitely lived.
As teenagers in Highland Creek listening to our favourite song "Running Bear" over and over again. LOL and as adults sitting around the campfire at our cottage on Georgian Bay, Kelly and Karen's wedding being introduced as his "only" relative, or last minute detours on his bike trip to Meaford and Florida. Sharing your sadness. Our love and thoughts are will you.

We are SO sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. We lost touch for years when he moved out west. Hooked up again in 2004 at Red Lodge Montana. Met up many times after that for great rides and parties! Chuck was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. Our best to his family and friends. Gaby & Bob Barkey

Dear Kelly, Grady and families,
It is with heartfelt sadness that I send condolences to you all. Chuck was my friend for over 50 years. I remember when I first met your Dad, I was unsure of what to expect as I had heard so many crazy stories. When Roy introduced us, it was as if we had known each other for years and we became fast friends. I was lucky enough to be included in some of the antics and can remember many fun times which I still laugh about. Your Dad was there for me through many tough times and we shared sad times together as well. He will always be in my heart and I am thankful he brought so much joy and laughter to my life. We are all better for having had Chuck in our lives.

A memory I've had of Chuck for the past 9 years or so was when he was down In Colville Washington at my folks place. He was helping us to fence in the garden. Chuck and I were kinda teamed up, he would hold the fencing up to the post and I would hammer in the staples. I can handle a hammer pretty well and have good aim. So when I swing I hit harder than just a little tap. Well Chuck had been helping me for a while and got comfortable with holding the fence closer to the staple point. Well needless to say on one swing I missed the staple and instead hit his thumb square on. I felt horrible, but Chuck didn't even flinch, he didn't even move his hand but continued to hold the fencing in place. You would think I didn't hit him at all except that his entire thumb nail turned blue. He'll be missed. He was a good man.

Dear Kelly, Grady and families,
It is with heartfelt sadness that I offer my condolences to you all. Your Dad was my friend for over 50 years. I remember the first time I met him in Toronto, after hearing all the crazy storys, I really wasn’t sure what to expect. It was with great relief that we found a lifelong bond, full of fun, memories, and a friendship that lasted throughout our lives, no matter where we landed. We were not without heartbreak nor sadness during our lives, but I knew that your Dad was always there for me and my kids, and he helped me through many moments. I know that you were all his pride and joy and he could never stop talking about all the wonderful trips you took. His pride and love for Ashtyn and Coryl abounded. He will always have a special place in my heart. With love to you all, Judy

I remember riding to Nawlins with Chuck in 1963. We only made it to Tennessee before Chuck's Matchless broke down, was rebuilt in Johnson City, and we made a mad dash for Ontario. We camped together and canoed together. We rode through a herd of Buffalo in Wyoming, and most recent (2008) we camped in Newfoundland. Chuck always made himself comfortable camping. He carried a mini stove for heating food, and a table cloth among other things in his beer-box. I will miss his humour, company and correspondence. I think of him often.

Kelly and Grady and Val. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have so many fond memories about your dad. We sat on Camrose Minor Ball for many years and so were involved in many different aspects of ball. Those were the years when boys fastball was so strong. I think about those days a lot. I have sat and visited with your dad many times in bleachers listening to his stories. The one I will never forget is the story when you guys were on your way to a football game and someone got sick all over the dash etc.
Your dad was a great guy and I am so fortunate to have known him and that I could call him a friend.

My friendship with Chuck goes back to the early 1970s when Chuck and I worked for Nortel.
We both loved to fish and this is when Chuck came up to the Flesherton Ontario area to visit.
I remember one humorous event when we were fishing on the back roads in the
early spring on the poor back country roads and Chuck's truck got stuck in the mud in the middle of the road.
We went to a nearby farm and the farmer had a dump truck and agreed to pull us out.
It seems as though he spotted a case of beer in the back of the truck. He politely invited himself to share some of it. The trouble was he would not let us get unhooked until all 24 beers were gone.
we often laughed about that in later years
