Our family's fondest memory of Marie and all the kids, along with Grandma Florence, was making lefse! It started with very explicit instructions from Florence on how to prepare the potatoes -- and it was approaching sacrilege to vary from these instructions. Then the three generations gathered in the kitchen to mix and roll and place on the griddles and flip and cool and wrap for freezing. Of course, there was ample coffee drinking and lefse sneaking and sharing and visiting and quality control! The first years the kids were soon out sledding down the snow paths into the valley. Later on, the kids took over, established their own rules, and we older generations were relegated to coffee and clean-up. The love and laughter and tears all flowed together as we walked these journeys. Thank you for everything.

I am so sorry to hear of Marie’s passing. It wasn’t that long ago we had a long chat and she was still optimistic about beating her illness. Marie was my curling buddy for many years and I shall miss her wisdom on and off the ice. To her children and grandchildren and the Olson family my deepest sympathy.
