Obituary of Mary Ann Ferner
Mary Ann Ferner
(December 19, 1938 - December 11, 2018)
Mary Ann Ferner of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the age of 79 years.
Mary Ann was born December 19, 1938, in Wetaskiwin AB. She moved to Camrose with her parents in 1946. Here she completed her schooling and graduated from Camrose Lutheran College (now Augustana). She was an avid basketball player and coached the college woman’s team for four years after her graduation. She recently celebrated her 60 year reunion with so many of “the kids” she grew up with. This was an evening she had looked forward to and enjoyed immensely.
In 1966 Mary Ann married her love, Edward Ferner. To this union, they were blessed with three children Scott, Shauna and Troy. Ed’s work took them to Lethbridge and Milk River before returning home to Camrose where they stayed till retirement. Retirement brought on a whole new adventure...moving to “the lake”. No matter where the family lived, many new friendships and memories were made.
Mary Ann LOVED her winters in Arizona. She met her loving companion Robert Holmes and made friendships that she cherished till the end. Her trip to Alaska, Tombstone, and weekly trips to the flea market with friends were highlights that she often talked about.
Mary Ann will be forever missed and always remembered by her family:
Scott (Geri) and Cody, Shauna (Robert) Britton, Taylor and Taryn, Troy (Joan), Brandi (Clint) Martin and Brooke, her treasured great-grandchildren Brytton and Griffin and her loving companion Robert Holmes. Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband Edward Ferner and her parents Rudy and Bernice Magneson.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from the Messiah Lutheran Church with Bev Swanson officiating.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Mary Ann's memory may be made to Long Lane Boarding Kennels re: Rescue Dogs.
