Carren, Cody, Tia, & Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Allan’s passing. I send you all my sincere sympathies on your loss.
I worked with Al in the oilfield while he was driving truck for Butch and he hauled oil and produced water for us at Renaissance Energy & Husky in the Flagstaff area. We shared a lot of great times at work and laughs during our time together. I want you to know first and foremost Cody & Tia, how proud your Dad was of you both. He would light up with a huge smile anytime he spoke of you both.
Secondly I want you to know what a great, kind man your Dad was and also what a tireless, and hard worker he was. Even on a bad day, Al always had a smile on his face (he had the best smile!) and was in a positive mood. I loved his calm and quiet demeanour to his personality. I never heard anyone speak a bad word of Al. He was liked by everyone.
We had a nickname for your Dad. We called him “Big Heat” or just “Heat.” I am not sure where it originated from but I suspect Butch! We used to play practical jokes on each other and one time late at night your Dad was unloading oil and near finishing for the day. I snuck around his truck, climbed up on the passengers side steps, ducked down below the window, and held on to the mirror. He climbed in the drivers seat and prepared to pull away. I slowly rose and stood on the steps peering through the window at him. When he finally looked my way, he let out a blood curdling scream and jammed on the brakes so hard he nearly threw me off! We both shared a great laugh after his nerves calmed and we laughed about it for days afterwards. Needless to say, “Heat” eventually got even with me!
I hope you always remember your Dad & husband through stories and keep his memories alive. I hope time will help ease your sorrow.

I went to school with Allan. He was always so kind and had a gentle spirit. And that smile - will never forget that. I’m sorry I can’t be at the funeral because I’m sick with pneumonia. Very sad to lose someone so young. My condolences to everyone.
