Obituary of Rosemarie Else Hart
Rosemarie Else Hart
(January 12, 1951 - May 26, 2019)
Rosemarie "Rose" Else Hart of Camrose, AB, formerly of Olds, AB, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the age of 68 years.
Rose was born in Heidelberg, Germany and grew up in Yellowknife, NWT. After graduating Grade 12, she left to attend University in Edmonton where she met Bill in 1969. They were married in 1970. Over the next eight years Cherie, Michael and Robert arrived and added to the family. Rose was the ever consummate mother, making sure everyone attended the school plays, concerts and graduations. She told many stories about her family camping in the wilds of the NWT while gold panning with her father and having to watch for bears at the same time. Camping with her own family became a favorite summer activity, usually in the BC Okanagan Valley with trips to the local fruit stands where she could get her favorite food – fresh fruit. She would even pick fruit from trees that overhung the roads.
Rose spent many years in the Kinette Club and attended Kinsmen conventions with Bill. She was also an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Olds and Camrose and served on the executive as membership chair in Camrose. She developed a love for bingo with the odd trip to the casino. She never admitted that she didn’t make money, but she always had fun. Leisure hours at home were spent reading, cross-stitching and crocheting afghans for her grandchildren. Most of the cross stitch projects were ultimately given away as gifts and only a few remain in the house. In later years, Rose was happiest holding and doting over her grandchildren, especially when they were babies. She liked children so much that she operated a day home for a number of years after her own three children left home. Travel plans for her and Bill’s retirement were suddenly put aside when she was diagnosed with liver disease which ultimately took her life.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Bill; children Cherie Hart (John Myles) of Peace River, Michael Hart (Angie Cousins) of Grande Prairie, and Robert Hart (Penney Rivera) of Camrose; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and brother Hans (Janice) Bernhard of Courtney, B.C.
Rose was predeceased by her parents Wendelin and Emma Bernhard.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Camrose Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Rose's memory may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Air Ambulance as well as the Canadian Liver Foundation.
