Mary Luella Elizabeth Wnuk
(June 4, 1938 - June 5, 2019)
Mary Luella Elizabeth Wnuk of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 81 years.
Mary was born June 4, 1938 in Bawlf, Alberta to Michael and Eva Noulett. Mary grew up on a farm with her parents near Bawlf. At an early age, her and her sister Anna moved to Medicine Hat, where they worked and looked after family. In 1957, she moved back to Edmonton where she met and fell in love with Joseph Wnuk; they married in 1958. After a brief move to Manitoba, they moved back to Bawlf to maintain a farming operation, and raise their family.
Mary worked for many years at the Crystal Springs, where she enjoyed putting smiles on peoples faces, serving early morning coffees. Eventually they moved to Camrose, Alberta in 1989.
As we all know, Mary was known for her “bone breaking” hugs. She loved flowers and gardening; oh and don’t forget to stay off her freshly manicured grass. We all looked forward to her “surprise care packs”, full of freshly baked goodies and homemade perogies. Mary enjoyed hosting family and friends and entertaining them playing her accordion. She was always happy to lend a helping hand and was a very active member in her church activities.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Jerry (Lynne), Greg (Tammy), and Jeff; daughter Bernadene (Craig) Buckle; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband Joe; baby Rose; son Robert; parents Michael and Eva; brothers Joe and Jake; and sisters Anna and Kay.
A Funeral Mass was held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church (3605 50 St Camrose) with Rev. Joseph Jacobson officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Camrose Cemetery at a later date.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
