Enid Genevieve Watland
(August 12, 1918 - August 25, 2019)
Enid Genevieve Watland passed away on August 25, 2019 at the age of 101. She was born to Emil and Muriel Bergman on August 12, 1918 in Langham, Saskatchewan. She went to school in Watson, Saskatchewan where she finished her grade eight.
Enid attended CLBI and during that time she met Theol Watland at Armena Lutheran Church. On July 10, 1953 they were married and to the joy of this marriage, they had three children. The family lived on a farm in the Dinant District. Later moving to Camrose, Enid cooked at the Camrose Children’s Center for many years.
Enid and Theol enjoyed trips and tours with their friends. Enid enjoyed her needle work, gardening and entertaining family and friends. After retiring, she spent many hours at the Senior Centre, carpet bowling and floor curling. She was a master at Scrabble. Enid was an active member at Curves until her 92nd year. Enid was a strong supporter of the Mission Prayer League and Messiah’s Women’s groups. She loved to sing and was part of the Ladies Chorus at Messiah until her health started failing her.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Darlene (Wayne) Obenauer of Edmonton, Janice (Greg) Sharpe of Cilliwack, BC, and David (Pam) Watland of Kelowna, BC; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Enid was predeceased by her husband Theol; brothers Melvin Bergman and Gerald Bergman; and sisters Joyce Miller, Evelyn Kobyashi, and Jeannette Knudson.
Enid will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life and her love for God and His purposes.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2019 from the Messiah Lutheran Church, 4810 - 50th Street Camrose with Rev. Bev Swanson officiating. Interment has taken place in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
