Obituary of Wilma Jean Lee
Wilma Jean Lee
(August 17, 1933 - September 14, 2019)
Wilma Jean Lee of Edmonton, AB, formerly of Camrose, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the age of 86 years.
Wilma Jean Hite was born in the heart of the depression in Gilmore County, West Virginia.
She was the daughter of coalminer Leland Hite and housewife, Loretta Hite. She was one of eight children and life was a struggle for the family. At an early age, Wilma went to live with her grandparents and later to an aunt to assist with household chores. In her teen years she returned to live fulltime with the family and completed her Grade 12 diploma. Wilma’s first job post-high school was in Washington, DC, working for the FBI as a file clerk.
She met Charles Lee on a blind date, fell deeply in love and married him shortly after. Children and moves would be a part of her world for the next ten years as she moved from North Carolina to Texas to Seattle to Edmonton as Charles pursued his doctorate and career as a professor. Along the way Wilma and Charles had six kids- two sets of twins. Through those busy years, they instilled Christian values in a loving environment. They finally retired in Camrose to be close to the church.
Her life was all about family and love. She welcomed each new daughter and son as her children married and then with a lot of love and joy welcomed eleven grandchildren as they entered her life. At the end of her life she was able to welcome with great joy her first great-grandchild.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Chuck (Sue) of Lundbreck, Teri (Ed) Stoklas of Rob Roy, Ontario, Roger (Holly) of Sherwood Park, Peggy (Brent) Foster of Edmonton, Jeffrey (Mary Anne) of San Diego, California, and Stuart (Sherry) of Sherwood Park; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters Geraldine Sallie, Peggy Runner, and Jo Marouse.
Wilma was predeceased by her husband Charles; brothers Shirley, Gilbert and Randall Hite; and sister Lucille Sullivan.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose with Pastor Ted Archbold officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Wilma's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
