Obituary of Catherine Marthe Ames
Catherine Marthe Ames
(February 4, 1943 - October 1, 2019)
Catherine Marthe Ames of Camrose, Alberta was received into heaven on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 76 years.
Cathy was born in Upper Hay River/Battle River, Alberta and was a member of Beaver First Nation. Cathy moved to Camrose in 1989 with her immediate family. Being someone who was always there for others, she quickly gained many more friends she loved as family, welcoming them into her home with open arms. Whether you were only stopping in for a quick visit or staying for a while, she would always receive you happily and would make sure you left with a full stomach.
Cathy was quick-witted and always laughing, smacking those close to her on the arm when she found something particularly hilarious. She loved fiercely and was a great protector. Cathy was someone you could turn to if you needed to talk about something difficult and was always ready to dry your tears or give you some good advice (or a lickin’).
Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. Cathy was proud of every accomplishment they had, always showing up for big events or sharing a status update about it on Facebook. She was an integral part of both her immediate and extended family, and words cannot express how much she will be missed.
Cathy is survived by her children Bernadine (Shannon) Iverson; Beverly Kruse; Bridget (Lars) Lennartsson; Brent Ames and Bryce Ames, numerous brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Cathy was predeceased by her parents Louis and Christine Lizotte, son Bradley, brothers Hector and Eric, and sisters Barbra and Virginia.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2019 from Rose City Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Shingoose officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the New Norway Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to the Camrose Association for Community Living.
