Thank you Gerry for being one of the best mentors I've ever had. You took the time to be both a teacher and a friend. My sincere condolences to your family. Mr Polei was my high school math teacher. Because of him math was my favorite subject. I was just thinking about him a few weeks ago with fond memories. He made a difference in students lives and really cared. I wish you peace at this time. Glen Lowe.

Sorry for your loss.
One of my most favourite teachers, he made math easy and always had time for his students. He always had a smile for you that told you he cared about each of us. I’m sure all of us girls had a crush on him at one time or another. Never a teacher that you could forget.

Mrs. Polei and family,
I was very fortunate to have Mr. Polei for math in High School while he was in Warburg. He was one of my favorite teachers, always wanting you to reach your full potential and happy to give any help needed towards that end. I have many memories of him laughing with students and whistling in the halls. I know he help countless students to enjoy learning and excel because of his passion and talent for teaching.

My favourite memory of playing Fastball with Gerry in the 80’s was when I (as the catcher) called for a drop ball in warmup between innings, and Gerry Instead threw a riser. It hit me on the forehead right between the eyes, knocking him on my back! I still laugh about it.
We were also honoured to have him as our wedding MC 31 years ago, and his easy going style provided many laughs
