Janet Margaret Blatz
(April 19, 1939 - February 26, 2020)
Janet - wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on February 26, 2020 at her home in Camrose, Alberta.
She was born on April 19, 1939 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, the first born of Walter and Theresa Greenwall. She grew up on the family farm near Duhamel. In 1959 she married Ron Blatz and together they had five children. They raised their family on the farm near Kelsey. In 1994 they retired to Camrose.
Janet was a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished hosting family and spent her life caring for others. She loved to garden, cook, knit and play games. Flowers, in particular, were her passion. She was very active in her community and Church. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Ron; her children Marty, Leanne, Susan, Chester (Marie), foster son Jack; seven grandchildren Brandon and Morgan (Susan), Ben and Kris (Leanne), Brooklyn (Chester), Justin and Cassandra (Jack); great-grandchildren Zayne and Jane; sister Marianne (Jim Park), brother Gary (Betty Anne) Greenwall; sister-in-laws Sister Hermana, Cathy Belanger, Vicky Sturek, Anne Blatz, Aloysia (Zig) Famulak; brother-in-law Joe (Pauline) Blatz; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Janet was predeceased by her father Walter; mother Theresa; son Jeffrey; and brother Allan.
Janet was a blessing to the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 3605 50 St Camrose with Father Joby Augustin as celebrant. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery.
