Stan took me on a tour of the Battle River region when he was 90. I drove and he guided. I was doing bit of research on the bell at St. Francis Xavier for a colleague in France who is distantly related to the donor of the bell, businessman René Lemarchand. Stan told me then that it was that bell which would toll for him one day, and I'm sure it did. He had also known Fr. Hippolyte Beillevaire, first Catholic missionary at Camrose and founder of the parish of Duhamel. Stan had been his altar servant many times. My hearthfelt sympathies to the family.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your dad. I have so many good memories of spending time on the farm. It was always a given that a trip to Camrose always meant a trip to The Trautmans. Stan was always caring and welcoming....I am so fortunate to have known him

It was my pleasure to take Stan for a few rides into the Duhamel- New Norway area a few years ago and have him tell me about the rich history of the area. I appreciated and enjoyed his knowledge and laughter as we drove along. My sincerest sympathies to the Trautman families; Stan was, indeed, a very special individual.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Stan’s family. When we were out walking on the road, Stan would always stop and chat with us and then head up to the cemetery. He was always interested in the families along the river road.

Stan was extremely knowledgeable in the history of Camrose and Duhamel. He was a wonderful resource for me when I worked at the museum, and I loved when he would drop in to say hi. I learned something from him every time we talked. He will be missed.
