We will miss Martin. He was always smiling when we saw him around Round Hill. He was a great neighbour and friend to our family.

To all of Martins family we offer sincere condolences to you. May many happy memories give you peace that he was a very well respected man. A strike was a strike and a ball was a ball. He called life as he saw it and did a great job. Ron and Eilene Damberger

Many years ago autograph books were popular with girls of my generation. I will never forget what Martin wrote in my book. ‘Remember when the Great Scorer comes to mark against your name, He’ll not mark Won or Lost, but how you played the game.’
I treasure those words as Martin was an awesome teacher, coach, all around good man and brother-in-law. Rest In Peace Martin.
Love,
Marge and Garry

Doris and family: My sympathy to you and your family on the passing of Martin. Working at the school division office (previous County) always enjoyed contact with Martin. Always a smile on his face and a positive outlook. I am sure many students and staff benefited from his teaching, guidance and learning experiences at Round Hill School. May you find comfort in memories and the support of family and friends.

I first met Martin in 1982 when I walked into Round Hill school as a 14 year old shy kid. My family had just moved from B.C. I remember being welcomed by "Mr. Pasychnyk" at the front door. What started as a student principal relationship ended almost 40 years later as pen pals during Covid. I have 12 letters from Martin from our time of corresponding during 2021. Here are some quotes from those letters.
"I feel good now and not wobbly, but who knows what I will sense tomorrow. Each day and each moments are gifts." May 2021
"I hope that our grandchildren will continue to participate in sports, especially baseball. I don't think that my years will permit me to officiate (umpire) any games as I used to. But I will try my best if I will be asked to help." June 2021
"I am having difficulty deciding whether I should or could umpire baseball again." July 2021
"As the years go by so do birthdays. I have no regrets at my present age. Each year makes me older and I hope wiser." August 2021
"Maybe I will write opinions about students. Yet I loved them all. They are humans. All humans err sometimes. May God bless each. " September 2021
" I still remember clearly your first appearance at my school. I didn't notice an arm wave nor special exchange of voices, but I saw a huge hug. The physical contact means so much." October 2021
"I thank you so much for not forgetting about me... Our love includes Doris and me and my family. Martin" November 2021... the last letter.
Thank you my friend and treasured pen pal. I will miss you so much. I will miss your letters as I know what an effort they were to write. Thank you for sharing you heart with me. ( Ruby Voigt Neumann.... Round Hill Grade 8 class of 1982-83)
