Obituary of George Pollock
George Pollock
(September 29, 1935 - July 31, 2022)
George Pollock passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at the University Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 86 years.
He was born in Ryley to Omar and Lena Pollock. George spent his early childhood helping out on his Family’s small farm, along with his two brothers and two younger sisters. He did not have the opportunity for much formal education, and due to family circumstances, he started working any odd jobs he could find at the age of 12. This instilled in him a very strong work ethic which stood him well for the many successful business ventures he achieved in his life.
George met the love of his life Joanne Lyslo and they married on November 11, 1955. Together they welcomed five children, Deborah, Jim, Cheryl, Roseanne and Richard. With his loving wife by his side, he spent many happy years pursuing his love of adventure. George enjoyed being outdoors and loved to spend his weekends and holidays hunting, fishing, flying, horse racing, skiing, taking family vacations and socializing with family and friends.
George was a dynamic, hardworking, driven, and passionate man who lived his life to the fullest and was known and loved by everyone. The joy that George brought into our lives will be missed and never forgotten.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Jim (Sherle) Pollock of Edmonton, Roseanne (Brant) Regush of Saskatoon, and Richard (Holly) Pollock of Edmonton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and sister Evelyn (Paul) Whitson of Edmonton.
George was predeceased by his wife Joanne; daughters Deborah and Cheryl Pollock, grandson James Pollock; parents Omar Pollock and Lena Lucas; brothers Jim and Ernest Pollock, and sister Audrey Rewega.
A graveside service was held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Ryley Cemetery.
