Gene was a great friend and mentor to me for the last 7 years. I met him first at Peace Air and have stayed in touch with him ever since. He was the first person to really teach me about charters, business, politics and customer service. I will remember him, his stories and his lessons my entire life. You are missed Gene. I wish I could call you right now for some advice. Be at peace.

My Dear Friend 'Gene' you will be sorely missed by all. Your Friendship and dedication to helping others was unquestionable. Your loyalty immeasurable. Your passion for democracy and doing the right thing for the right reasons priceless. Your insight always helpful. There isn't a day goes by that I wish I could pick up the phone and call you to have discussions on politics the City Centre Airport(Muni) and life in general. It was great to 'Fight the Good Fight' along side you as your friend and going forward your spirit of dedication and determination will guide me to continue to 'Fight the Good Fight' I would also like to express my condolences to your family at this time for their great loss as well. We know you are no longer physically upon this earth but your wonderful spirit will always be with us. Your memories and good times will always be with us wherever we travel upon this great earth. I believe fully you are there with us now even though we are not able to physically see you or talk with as we once did. Thank you ‘Gene’ for the great example you were to all of us. You will always be remembered. The ‘Good Fight’ is still alive and well because of you. I am sure wherever you are there will be an excellent Golf Tournament or Curling Bonspiel for you to organize in order for all to enjoy and participate in. Rest in Peace my Friend.

My Heartfelt Condolences go out to the Strilchuk Family. Eugene was a great guy, who was dedicated to the causes that he believed in and always could be counted on as a team player. I had the pleasure of working with him on the City Centre Airport campaign and a few political campaigns. Many of us have lots of fond memories sitting around strategizing, telling stories and laughing over a drink about things such as politics, sports (especially the Edmonton Oilers), cars, current events etc. and how we could solve the world's problems. Eugene had a great sense of humour and a kind heart. He will be missed dearly.

Eugene was the ultimate team mate. He had the unique ability to know when to lead and when to follow. The group Envision Edmonton was well served by his commitment and efforts to advocate for the Edmonton City Centre Airport he cared so passionately about.

I had the privilege of getting to know and work with Gene through our involvement in Envision Edmonton, on whose Board we served as Directors. His commitment and dedication to the cause of "saving" our City Centre Airport Is most commendable. While to date we have been unsuccessful we are counting on Gene to use his influence from his perch aloft to change the destiny of "our" airport. Eugene, you will be sorely missed. I would like to express my deepest condolences to Paul, Larry, Brian, Bob and their families. I feel I am very lucky to have known Gene for most of my life. We actually became friends in grade 1 back Holden school. I had the opportunity to have lunch with Gene last spring (2013) where we shared stories about some of the antics we pulled back in the Ryley days. We laughed a little and also talked a bit about his health issues. It was very nice to talk to Gene after that many years. Gene you will be missed by many people especially me, your old friend Neil.

My sincere condolences to the Strilchuk Family. When he smiled, it came from his heart, when he believed in something, there was no stopping him, and when he committed to cause he never wavered. Gene was an out of the box thinker with that dash of creativity that made him such an asset both in the business and not-for-profit worlds. I will miss his wit, his creativity, his laugh along with that twinkle in his eye when telling his jokes. He was a very special person and will be missed greatly.

To The Family; I was deeply saddened to hear of Gene’s passing. After his email to me in December, I really felt optimistic that he was going to get better. Even though I didn’t see Gene very often, he still mattered a great deal to me. I will always remember Gene as a warm, kind and gentle Soul. Every time I saw him he had a big smile on his face. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Cousin Donna

I have such fond memories for hanging with Gene when we young, It is such a shame that the years separate us from those people that were important to us when we were young, and it is at times like this we realize that they are still very important to us. Thinking of you and your families and knowing that Gene has found peace and hoping the same for you at this difficult time. I know time will bring those special memories to the fore-front and be what we hold on to. Lots of love Brian & Teri Sikstrom

With sadness. I'd like to express my sincerest condolences to the Strilchuk family. Though Gene and myself eventually went our separate ways. He was a good friend through High School and beyond. All of my memories of Gene are good!! Even though it meant we were always in trouble with Paul. Thank you Gene!! and the Strilchuk family for always treating me far better than I deserved. May you always have fair winds my old friend!

Call me Gene. I remember these words as we determined to join two important causes. In this, Gene was committed, dedicated and loyal to the end. He never gave up the fight - nor would he concede ground, to the closure proponents or his private struggle with illness. I will always be indebted to Gene both for his brotherly advice and assistance and also the sacrifices, which I know cost him dearly. He made these without complaint. A selfless friend and decent human being. Thank you Gene for enriching our lives.

Eugene Strilchuk was a great man. As a youth minister, I could truly sense his strong sense of integrity & his belief in his Christian faith. That drove him in his activity's like curling & the Envision Edmonton Municipal Airport drive. I for one am appalled that cancer has taken another great Albertan & great person at such a young age! Amen & God Bless Gene!

I got to know Eugene Strilchuk thru Aviation Edmonton & the Envision Edmonton campaign & petition drive to save the City Centre Airport. He was one of the finest human beings I ever met. Forthright, honest, & intelligent. I truly admired & respected him. I thought of him as a gentleman.
