My condolences to all in the French family. Mr. French was my teacher in Grades 7/8/9. It is not often that a teacher can have such a large impact on you. Mr French was such a man.
One of the lessons he instilled on me was "always have a pen & paper" that first day of school. I carried this with me through High School and NAIT.
Honesty is the best policy. Mr French could be fierce, but if you were honest, he was fair.
Never look at your keys when you are typing ! Those typing classes carried me forward with skills needed from the manual typewriter, to the electric and now the keyboard with computer! I am proud that I can type without looking (and accurately!). The young kids these days (now I sound old!) have not learned this skill (and they don't think they need to, ha ha).
The English language classes when he numbered the different parts - nouns were a 1, verbs were a 2, adj were a 3 and so on.
The "bonus" questions in Science class! If I could answer before Kristine Wolski it was a great day !!
It was comical that he called everyone by their last names, cause he taught multiple generations.
Thank you Mr. French for all that you taught us, you will be missed.

Heart felt condolences to the family. Wayne was my principal from grade one to nine. He was also my art teacher. He gave encouragement when needed and discipline to push myself. The greatest gift he gave me has served me my entire life. He would say if it is worth doing, it is worth doing right. So very grateful he was a part of my life. He will be missed.

The world lost a great man and one who meant so so much to me as a young boy/man. Nothing escaped his notice. I was suffering badly from bullying at school and Mr. French provided me protection and support in some very rough years. And even when I felt the weight of the world on me he was always there to encourage and help me with my studies and let me see light. I owe this man everything and he managed to do all of it without making it look obvious and putting targets on me. I can honestly say I owe him my life. Everyone knows what a great leader and teacher he was but I knew what a loving humanitarian he was. I will never forget what he did for me completely selflessly.

I am so sorry to here of Mr. French’s passing. He was my favourite teacher. Over the years I would run into Mr. French often. He would always ask me to call him Wayne but I never could as I had to much respect for him. He taught me so much and he was great presence. My deepest condolences to his family.
