Alma Rosa Martz
(March 12, 1930 - August 26, 2023)
Alma (Schulte) Martz of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Heisler, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the age of 93 years.
Alma was born in March 1930 to Joseph Sr. and Annie Schulte. The family farm, where she grew up, was in Saint Peters. Alma moved to Heisler after marrying Gilbert Martz in 1953.
Family was always very important to Alma. Theirs was started on the farm, then in town, where they ran Martz Hardware and Martz & Son Texaco. While in Heisler, Alma was active with the CWL and the Order of Royal Purple. She and Gilbert moved to Camrose in 2011.
Alma is survived by her daughter-in-law Lori (Brian) Martz; children Ron (Wanda) Martz, Deb (Ken) Holt, Lana (Norm) Floré, Connie Martz, and Gail (Mike) Kipta. She will also be missed by her nine grandchildren Christine (Mike) de Graaff, Laura (Jason) Hill, Jonathan (Jennifer) Holt, Chantel (Dylan) Alaric, James (Karen) Holt, Devin Floré, Ryan Martz, Danita Holt, and Brandon (Rylee) Martz; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Gilbert; eldest son Brian; parents Joseph Sr. and Annie (Blaeser) Schulte; parents-in-law Joseph and Hanna Martz; and siblings Norman, Harry, Valeria Niehaus, Leonard, Maryanna Martz, and Arthur.
Alma is also survived by her siblings Helen Martz and Joseph Jr; and in-laws Marcella Schulte, Jeanette Schulte, Theresa Kuefler, Lorraine Martz, Angela Hihn, and Florence Sommer. She is predeceased by her in-laws Ben Niehaus, Leander Martz, Rita and Irvin Blumhagen, Ralph Martz, Melvin Martz, Jerry Hihn, Warren Sommer, Jim Kroetsch, and Melvin Kuefler.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at St. Mary’s in Camrose who made her last days so comfortable.
A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023 from the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, 313, Manning Ave, Heisler with Father Danial DSouza as celebrant.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions in Alma's memory may be made to St. Martin's Cemetery Fund or to the Parkinson Association of Alberta.
