Lindy Marie Kontek-Thirsk
(August 17, 1995 - November 8, 2023)
Lindy Marie Kontek-Thirsk was born on August 17, 1995, to Darryl Thirsk and Kelly Kontek in Camrose, Alberta. Lindy passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, at the age of 28. Lindy was predeceased by her father Darryl Thirsk; her grandparents James Thirsk, and Rudy and Vera Kontek; as well as her uncles Jim Thirsk, Leo Thirsk, Ben Thirsk, and Gordon Jober.
Lindy is survived by her mother Kelly (Kevin) Kontek; sisters Candace and Nikki; her grandmother Ellen Thirsk; her aunt’s Caroline Jober, Dolores (Don) Sroka, and Bev Thirsk; her uncles Ray Thirsk, Rod Thirsk, Murray Thirsk, Ron (Joanne) Kontek and Larry (Bonnie) Kontek; as well as several cousins.
Lindy was a gentle and kind person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved going to the Open Door, and swimming at the public pool. Lindy was happiest when she was around her friends and family and would talk about her memories from each visit for years to come. Lindy had a love of God from a very young age and found peace in the love and comfort of those close to her.
Lindy enjoyed spending time with family, whether it was time at her grandma Ellen’s farm, or family gatherings at Christmas and Easter. These moments were very special to Lindy. Lindy loved to go to Edmonton. She especially enjoyed when she was able to go to Galaxyland or Jubilations. Lindy also loved music, whether it was listening to old tapes at Grandma Vera’s house or live music played by the family. She was her happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved.
Lindy peacefully left this earth on November 8th, 2023 and joined her family and loved ones in Heaven.
A funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 3605 50 St Camrose, celebrated by Father Kris Schmidt.
