Obituary of Bonnie Faye Kercher

Bonnie Faye Kercher

(December 11, 1945 - November 16, 2023)

Bonnie was born in Rosalind on December 11, 1945 to parents George and Queenie Orr. She grew up on the Orr family farm with her many siblings while attending school in Rosalind. Bonnie married Ron Kercher on April 18, 1964. Bonnie and Ron soon moved from their home in the Village of Rosalind to the Kercher family farm where they grain and cattle farmed and raised their two daughters Shannon and Lori.  

Bonnie worked a stint at Safeway in Camrose, attended school to become a hair dresser, worked a couple of years at Stony Creek Lodge and supported Ron on the farm.    

There were many ball games, curling bonspiels, trail rides, camping trips and get togethers with family and friends. Bonnie was always there to support her family, to celebrate their achievements and attend their sporting events - even if it meant standing in the cold at a ski race!

Bonnie had a love for mowing grass, spending hours in the garden, feeding all the birds and tending to all her flowers (which for years she started from seed in her greenhouse). She loved listening to country music (the radio was always on), attending chuckwagon races (and they’re off), watching curling (hurry hard), baking, laughing, having the coffee on and visiting with friends.

Bonnie passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on November 16, 2023 holding the hands of Ron and Lori. When they let go, they knew Shannon was waiting ♥.

Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 59 years Ron; her daughter Lori (Steve); grandchildren Cole and Karlee; siblings Sylvia, Tom and Marlene; as well as many nieces, nephews and relatives.  She was predeceased by her parents George and Queenie Orr; father and mother-in law Ed and Bernice Kercher; daughter Shannon; and siblings Dolly, Gordon, Merril, Elsie and Marion. 

A Graveside Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 24, 2023 from the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery, 4205 - 52 Street officiated by Rev. Brian Hunter. You are invited to join the family for fellowship and refreshments following the interment at the Rosalind Hall.
