(June 27, 1931 - December 17, 2023)

Morris Jerry Proskow, 92, of Airdrie AB, passed away on December 17, 2023, in Calgary. He was born in Dinant, AB to parents Joseph and Mary (Sherbaniuk) Proskow. Morris played junior league hockey, graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High School Calgary in 1949, and moved to Edmonton where he met his wife Lorraine and attended U of A. Spanning a 30-year career at Hook Outdoor Advertising, Morris started in Edmonton in sales, becoming partner then President in Calgary. Morris stewarded the sale of Hook to the Pattison Group where he worked as a President in Pattison Outdoor Advertising for 15 years. Morris received Pattison’s President of the Year Award and became Honorary President of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Canada, taking him and Lorraine to conferences in London UK, Berlin Germany, and Johannesburg South Africa. Morris loved the billboard industry, and after retirement, founded and grew his own company, Rocky Mountain Outdoor, with billboards in BC, AB and SK, managing accounts until his passing.

Morris loved travelling with his family across Canada and the US in his motorhomes. He loved coaching community hockey, golfing in Banff, and badminton at the Glencoe Club. He loved his Ukrainian heritage, traditions and music, and singing with Lorraine in the church choir. Morris volunteered with the Calgary Stampede Parade Committee for over 20 years, and was an active member in Kinsmen, Rotary and Knights of Columbus.
