Vera and family…it is with a broken heart that I am sending condolences on the loss of our dear Jim. For 30 years he was my neighbor and for another 30 years a dear friend. He was my handi man, parenting guide, mechanic, travel companion, guardian and entertainer.
Once on Christmas Day I saw him coming across the street wearing sandals, socks, bathing suit, a loud Hawaiian shirt and his favourite cap to show us the presents Santa brought in preparation for his trip to Hawaii.
As a guardian he kept close watch on my place. If a male visitor should stop at my house he and his friend Ralph would get together to question me on my activities.
Our travels took us to the east coast of Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland and Hawaii. Travelling always made Jim sick to his stomach, so on the ferry from England to Ireland he had to stand outside on the hull while the rest of us lunched inside. In Hawaii I took the wrong turn and followed a road full of switch backs which caused him much car sickness. But he would always laugh and enjoy the trips. Jim has left us such pleasurable Memories for which I am ever grateful.
May you rest in peace my dear friend. I miss you already.

Jim King has been in my life for about 60 yrs, as he and Vera were the best friends to my sister Eleanor. His kindness knew no bounds. There are so many funny stories to tell …..not just about Jim, but how he could tell a story himself. His colorful language and self effacing humour was unmatched. When I say his name I think laughter, smiles and fun times which I will always remember. Unfortunately I cannot attend his celebration of life but I will raise my glass to a great guy who will be sorely missed.
May he rest in peace.
My heartfelt sympathies to you Vera and the family.
