Grant was born at St. Mary's Hospital on September 28, 1937 and he passed away there on November 7, 2014, 77 years later. He was "the youngest" of seven children born to Cliff and Myrtle Reed and he enjoyed growing up in Camrose. He worked for Alberta Government Telephones for 31 years in Camrose, Leduc and Edmonton. Grant loved music, his Oilers, traveling to Europe and lefse, but more than anything he loved people. He never met a stranger and he made good friends with people around the globe. Grant was predeceased by his brother Bric; sister Mil MacPhee, and 10 years ago by his dear daughter, Anita. He is survived by his wife Fran (Daly); daughters Melanie Reed-Zukowski (Pat Zukowski) and Sandra; and his "chosen" family, Brad, Tanja and Sophia Burns. He is also survived by his siblings Lloyd, Doris, Don, and Keith, as well as numerous cherished cousins, nephews and nieces. A Dixieland Jazz funeral was held on Sunday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Camrose United Church with Rev. Liz Carter-Morgan officiating. Inurnment took place in the Camrose Cemetery. Those attending were invited to wear Oilers attire. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Anita Reed Resource Library at the Camrose Association For Community Living (4604-57 St., Camrose, AB, T4V 2E7), or a charity of one's choice.
