Obituary of Eunice Holt
Please share a memory of Eunice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eunice Alberta Holt of Camrose, formerly of Ferintosh, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the age of 87 years.
Eunice Alberta Tennis was born at home near Ferintosh on January 10, 1927, the fifth of John and Olga Tennis' six children. She attended Star School for her elementary years, Ferintosh High School for Grade 10 and Wetaskiwin High School for her two final years, where she maintained a spot on the Honour Roll. She married Dewey Holt, her high school sweetheart and best friend, on July 6, 1948. They lived on the Jim Lock farm until May of 1950, at which time they purchased the Bjorgren farm across the road, where they would enjoy the fine views for many decades. Eunice and Dewey farmed together, raised their daughter Kathy, extended hospitality, and enjoyed annual vacations and travelling - particularly after semi-retirement. Eunice developed an interest in painting, especially natural landscapes that she so enjoyed - she was happiest in the out-of-doors. She was an avid gardener, a church organist, and an excellent cook and baker. She cared deeply for all living things. She was strongly connected to the Lutheran Church community and nurtured a deep faith throughout her life. She and Dewey moved to Hillside Village in Camrose - winters only! - in 1997, and continued to spend summers at their farm until her failing health caused them to become permanent residents at Hillside, only three years ago.
As Eunice was predeceased by her brothers Harvey, Ivan and Leonard, and her sisters Addy and Norma, it is no small comfort to know that the Tennis family is together again. She will be greatly missed by her family here - including many nieces and nephews, their children, and those friends still remaining.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dewey and daughter Kathy Holt (Mike Peng) of Edmonton.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 from Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Don Bolstad and Rev. Ted Hill officiating. Interment tokk place in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery.
If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to CLBI, World Mission Prayer League, or to Lutheran World Relief.
