Mr. Irvin Roth of Camrose, formerly of Forestburg passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Irvin was born October 5, 1929 in Forestburg. His family homesteaded in the area. Irvin lived on the family farm until the call of the oil patch could be heard. He married Jean in 1953 and off they headed to parts unknown in Alberta and BC. Though life was tough in those days and money short they made a happy life together. They had a son Rick in 1957 and continued with their adventures. Debbie, their daughter, was born in 1960. In 1963 farming again became their focus as they moved back home to Forestburg and bought a piece of land. Irvin built his house and later his barn and made a great life for his family as they tried their hand at dairy farming and later as grain farmers. Along the way he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and music. Travelling became a passion with trips to Hawaii, the Philippines and many US states. At the age of 59 he started the next phase of his life and retired to Red Deer and a few years later to Camrose which he called home until his death. He was predeceased by his daughter Debbie and wife Jean. He is survived by his son Rick (Corinne) Roth. Also his grandchildren Erin Fitzgerald and her children Maddox and Reid; Brandin Lemmon; Christine (Tyler) Olson and their children Jordyn, Carter and Cooper; Jackie (Brad) Spurrell and their son Tristan; and Amanda (Kevin) Chilton and their children Kenzie and Gracie. He is also survived by his son-in-law Jim (Teena) Aiken. Irvin tried his hand at many trades in his life and was never afraid of hard work. This trait as well as a love of the land is what made him successful as a farmer. His humor, compassion and love of family is what made him successful as a husband, father and friend to many. His love of land and all things in nature is what made him successful in life. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2:00pm., from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Forestburg Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to St. Mary's Hospital Palliative Care.
