Obituary of Joyce Odovichuc

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Lynn Odovichuc of Camrose passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2015, at the age of 68. It gives her family great comfort to know that Joyce was greeted in Heaven by her parents and her daughter, Brenda. Joyce was born to Otto and Olga Bendfeld on November 15th, 1946, and has an older sister Carol. Joyce grew up in Forestburg and ventured to Edmonton at the age of 17 to complete her Nursing Aide education. In 1969 Joyce married her childhood friend and the love of her life, George Odovichuc. The happy couple settled in Camrose. Joyce dedicated her career to St. Mary's Hospital. She started in the hospital's nursery and later worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and eventually as a Unit Clerk. To further highlight her love for babies and children, Joyce and George had four daughters. Joyce had her hands full, but she enjoyed being busy. Joyce was always organized and prepared. She took cleaning to a whole new level, which her children lovingly referred to as "Joyce Clean." She followed George across Canada and into the States to his slo-pitch tournaments as his #1 fan. She loved her grandchildren deeply, and enjoyed spending time with them, often having them for sleepovers. Joyce will forever be remembered as a patient and positive person. She always had a smile on her face and was kind to everyone she met. She truly lived up to her name; she put the "joy" in Joyce. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George Odovichuc; her daughters Kari Mykitiuk (Darren Mann), Jodi (Jason) Hilmoe, Tara (Nathan) Drennan; son-in-law Carman (Kacy) Wilson; her grandchildren Alexandra, Rykan, Jacob, Katie, and her special kids Sarah and Gracie. "Celebrate my life, do not mourn my passing, death is a part of life." A Celebration of Joyce's Life was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 from Calvary Pentecostal Church with Rev. Bill Harder officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery. The family has requested that those who wish to, were encouraged to wear colourful attire in tribute to Joyce. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to KidSport Camrose (6010 48th Avenue Suite 318 Camrose, Alberta T4V 0K3), St. Mary's Hospital, or to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
